In collaboration with Fur Free Alliance, Prada has pledged to stop using fur in its collections by 2020. Fur Free Alliance is an international organization composed of more than 40 animal protection organizations that are working together to put an end to animal cruelty.

Miuccia Prada, Prada’s artistic director released a statement recently that said, “The Prada Group is committed to innovation and social responsibility, and our fur-free policy is an extension of that engagement. Focusing on innovative materials will allow the company to explore new boundaries of creative design, while meeting the demand for ethical products.”

除此之外还有像锐步和北面这样的公司有“纯素动向”，时尚圈里的大佬像古驰，香奈儿，巴宝莉，范思哲，唐可娜儿，蔻驰都做出了相应的零残忍承诺，开始停止使用皮草。

In addition to companies such as Reebox and The North Face; big players in the fashion industry including Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, Versace, DKNY, and Coach are now all making a commitment to more cruelty-free alternatives, starting by banning fur.

Though these changes come at a time when consumers are shifting away from the cruelty associated with fur, including most British consumers—even prompting London Fashion Week to go fur-free. Chief executive of Burberry, Marco Gobbetti echoed this sentiment saying, “I don’t think [fur] is compatible with modern luxury and the environment in which we live.”

However, cruelty-free, vegan-alternatives are not necessarily the safest for the environment. Alternatives have led to the growth of low-value synthetic materials that are produced using toxic chemicals, which pollute landfills and rivers.

To help find a solution to this issue, the British Fashion Council established an open-source directory in 2017 to help designers “gain ethical supply-chain certificates and facilitate successful relationships between designers and production units”.
