My mother always judges my lifestyle. “Please, please, settle down. You should have only ONE partner!” She is a strong believer in monogamy.

“Well, you are old fashioned, Ma. I am evolved enough to know this. Traditions like monogamy are not based on science,” I said with a sense of pride in winning the conversation.

另外惊讶的是，我妈给我背诵了一长串动物王国一系列物种清单，这些动物是单配偶型的。也就是说它们遇见彼此，约会，最后安顿下来。没有分手，没有离婚。

To my surprise, my mother recited a list of species in the Animalia Kingdom that actually mate for life. In other words, they meet, date and finally settle down together. No break up. No divorce.

Some mornings in the forests of Indonesia, a male and female gibbon will perform a musical duet!

雄性用死老鼠和尖叫声当礼物来求爱。

Males woo females with screeches and gifts of dead mice. If the female responds with croaking sounds, 

she's basically saying, "I do."

狼的爱情是至死方休的。在野外，它们从两岁开始繁殖。交配的狼每年都要生一窝幼崽来强大他们的狼群。

It's usually "'til death do us part" for wolves. In the wild, they start breeding by the age of two. Mated pairs build their wolf pack by having a new litter every year.
