观看药师佛英文讲解

药师佛，又称药师琉璃光如来，为东方净琉璃世界教主。以 “琉璃”为名，取琉璃之光明透彻，喻国土清净无垢之意。

The“Medicine Buddha”, formally known as the‘Medicine Buddha of Pure Crystal Radiance’, is the founder of Eastern Buddha Land of Pure Crystal. Whilst Crystal features brightness and transparency, of which symbolizes the purity and stainlessness of the Buddha Land.

■  药师佛圣像：

当你来到玉佛禅寺，进入第一进庭院的西侧殿堂，首先映入眼帘的就是药师殿。药师殿内供奉着庄严肃穆的药师佛圣像。

As soon as you walk into the Jade Buddha Temple, you can see the Medicine Buddha Hall located on the west side of the courtyard. Enshrined inside is the Medicine Buddha who sits solemnly on the lotus throne in Full Lotus Posture, with legs crossed and soles upward, left over right being the attitude for subduing demons, and right over left for blessing. 

只见药师佛结跏趺坐于莲台之上，左手托钵，右手曲臂当胸结无畏印。喻为愿为众生消灾免难、增福延寿，普愿天下有情，诸事顺遂，吉祥安康！熟悉佛教的人一定知道，生病了就来药师殿礼拜药师佛。

While holding a medicine bowl with his left hand, he is bending and raising the right hand close to the chest making a Gesture of Fearlessness, called the Abhaya Mudra. All these symbolize protection and dispersion of calamity, longevity, granting wishes and blessing for peace and health for all sentient beings. Those who know about the Medicine Buddha will come to pray when they get sick. 

那么，药师佛和我们的健康又有着什么样的关系呢？

So, what is the relationship between health and the Medicine Buddha?

■  药师佛的宏伟愿力：

药师佛以其宏大的愿力建立了一个净土世界，这个世界叫东方净琉璃世界。在那里众生没有身体的痛苦和心灵的纷扰，大家也听不到因痛苦发出的声音，甚至没有三恶道。据经文记载，药师佛通身透彻、蓝色如琉璃，清净无染出柔光。

The Medicine Buddha created an infinitely pure Buddha Land with Great Vows, called the Eastern Buddha Land of Pure Crystal. There are no physical and psychological sufferings, sounds of sufferings or the lower forms of rebirth. The sutras mention that the Medicine Buddha’s body is transparent, crystal-blue in color, and is infinitely pure and undefiled with soft radiance.

药师佛在行菩萨道时曾发下十二大愿，其中第七大愿：愿我来世得菩提时，若诸有情，众病逼切，无救无归，无医无药，无亲无家，贫穷多苦，我之名号，一经其耳，众病悉除，身心安乐”， 故大家通常称其为大医王。

When the Medicine Buddha was practicing the Bodhisattva path in the past, he made Twelve Great Vows with the heart-felt wish that all sentient beings might fulfill their aspirations. 

Within which, the Seventh Great Vow says:“In the future，upon my enlightenment, if there are any sentient beings who are tormented by illness, who have no hope of release or respite from their suffering, who are without doctors or medicine, or who have no family members or other caregivers to assist them, who are homeless or impoverished, or are suffering in any way, I vow that once the sound of my name has penetrated their ears, all illness shall cease, and they shall find serene contentment in body and mind. ”

Thus the Medicine Buddha is also commonly known as The Healing Buddha who heals all diseases, including the disease of ignorance.

■  药师佛手中所拿法器的含义：

有时我们还会看到其他模样的药师佛圣像，有时药师佛手中拿着药丸或药钵，其有着消灾、除障、祛病、延寿、纳福等表法的意义。

We might sometimes see other forms or representations of the Medicine Buddha. He may be holding a bowl of medicine or medical tablets. 

These different representations symbolize the dispersion of calamity, removal of obstacles, healing of diseases, lengthening life span and enjoying life of ease and comfort.
